Black Sky Cyclone

    BLACKSKY AEROSPACE

    Long Range Training Missile

RapidWerx is proud to partner with Australian rocket company Black Sky Aerospace (BSA) who has successfully launched a prototype long-range missile from the back of a privately owned Mercedes Benz Unimog.

The 3.7 meter long, 229mm diameter TM229 “Cyclone” training missile was fired remotely from a custom weapon pod, all of which were manufactured in Australia, and mounted on the back of an ex-Army truck.

The launch took place on what is believed to be the largest private launch range in the world; Black Sky’s 3-million-acre site in the southwestern Queensland outback.

The hardware, launch pod, avionics, propellant, rocket motor and nozzle are all manufactured in Australia, by Australians. This is a great advancement for sovereign missile development, with huge export opportunities.

The training missile is designed to simulate the experience of firing much more sophisticated and expensive missiles so trainees can gain live fire qualifications at a significantly reduced cost.

This missile can provide a sovereign, cost-effective, rapidly deployable training rocket that could align with Australia’s and allies’ plans for long-range fires.

    It's all in the details

    General SPECS
The rocket is 76mm in diameter and 1.7m long, which we can scale up and down depending on the requirement.
Vehicle Mounted Missile Tested In Australia
In order to test in civilian airspace, we don’t fit warheads, and we stay within strict height and distance parameters; but this version of the missile will be capable of firing about 15kms, and carrying a range of explosive ordnance.

Future variants on larger vehicles will be capable of greater distance and payloads but staying offensive-weapons-free has allowed us to make much faster progress than would otherwise be possible.

    Re-Entering the Space Race
The Australian designed and built rocket launched from the New South Wales and Queensland border has marked the nation’s re-entry into the space race.

Black Sky Aerospace CEO Blake Nikolic says the launch was a “critical step in Australia’s race to space again”.

“This rocket itself travelled around two times the sped of sound or Mach 2 and this flight went to around 30,000 feet so about the height of a commercial airliner. Critically though, it got there in about 30 seconds so much quicker than any commercial airliner would normally get there.”

    Safe-Guarded Against Cyber Attack
BSA and de.iterate have partnered and will combine AS9100D (Quality Management Systems – for Aviation, Space, and Defence) and ISO27001 (International Standard for Information Security) to ensure the delivery of Guided Weapon capability whilst keeping technology information secure.

BSA is developing and operating guided weapons to help enhance Australia’s self-reliance and supply chain resilience, a priority of the Federal Governments Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance Enterprise (GWEO).

Black Sky Aerospace CEO Blake Nikolic said the Intellectual Property behind these highly sophisticated technologies could be very dangerous in the wrong hands.
